AMERICANO
Espresso for Americans
When Americans were first introduced to the coffee culture of Italy in the 40’s, they found the traditional espresso too peculiar and far-flung from the brewed coffee that they usually had.To better imitate American coffee, they started to ask for espresso diluted with hot water. This then got known as “Caffé Americano” (American Coffee), and the drink is still the same today. An espresso diluted with hot water.

Ingredients (1 serving)
1 capsule of Sjöstrand Espresso N°2 (or your favourite Sjöstrand espresso)
Preparations
1 cappuccino cup or 1 Glass
Directions
Step 1. Without a capsule, brew a cup of lungo (the button for the large cup). This will warm the whole cup and clear any residue. Then pour out the water.
Step 2. Without a capsule, brew a cup of espresso, but keep the water in the cup.
Step 3. In the same cup, brew another espresso but this time with your capsule. This will dilute the coffee with the water from the previous brew, and keep the crema.
Enjoy your Americano.
