An iconic coffee cocktail that puts a touch of elegance onto the occasion. This drink is almost flawless, the only downside is that it’s hard to recreate it without alcohol. A common alternative is to replace the spirits with 3 cl of condensed milk to create a mocktail that gives its own creamier version of the espresso martini.
Ingredients (1 serving)
3 cl vodka
3 cl coffee liquor (bought or homemade)
1 capsule of Sjöstrand Espresso N°1
1 tbsp cacao powder for garnish (optional)
Ice, enough to fill your shaker
1 cocktail glass
1 cup (for espresso brewing)
2 small flat plates (for decorating the rim)
Step 1. Make sure you have the ice ready
Step 2. Brew a cup of espresso and let it cool.
Step 3. While the coffee is cooling, pour 1 tsp of coffee on one plate and spread cacao powder (wide enough to cover the cocktail glass’ rim) on another plate. Dip the rim of the glass in the coffee first, then on the plate with cacao powder. To make sure the tip of the glass gets covered, hold it just above the surface of the second plate but still in the cacao.
Step 4. Fill your shaker with ice. Pour in the vodka, coffee liquor, and the rest of the cooled coffee. Put the lid on and give it a real good shake.
Step 5. Replace the lid with the strainer and pour it into your cocktail glass.
Step 6. Serve immediately and enjoy it cool.
